  • The workshop includes short talks about creating healthier ways to communicate, to resolve conflict, and to build positive habits that strengthen your marriage. You will spend some time learning interactively from the facilitators through discussion, videos, and other tools. You will then actively work with your partner in structured exercises designed to build your connection and increase understanding of your personal needs and experiences. The workshop is a powerful change agent for most couples and offers a roadmap of what will be needed for you to create the relationship you want.

  • Item descriptionNo. Couples complete exercises on their own, not in front of a large group. There will be times allotted for couples to disperse to separate areas to work in private. Facilitators will be available at this time to offer extra help to those who want it.

There will be opportunities to share your experience of various exercises if you wish, however this is completely voluntary. You are in charge of how much you share and if you share.

  • No. Other than your name and a few words about yourselves as a couple, you don’t have to share with anyone but your partner. There is no pressure to share or reveal personal concerns. However, we do create a safe atmosphere in which couples sometimes choose to share about their lives. This can help create normalcy around the struggles we all share.

  • This workshop will give you a comprehensive overview of what would be explored and discussed in detail in couples counseling. This can be a great start to a journey in counseling or a booster shot for a couple that doesn’t need therapy.

  • The facilitators are licensed marriage & family therapists and licensed professional counselors.  All have received training specific to couples’ relational issues and patterns, working with emotion, as well as strategies for improving interactions, communication, and a closer connection.

  • We know that finding childcare can be challenging and we do not want that to get in the way of you growing in your relationship. We are grateful that Sugarland Methodist Church has offered to provide childcare at no extra cost for children ages 6months to 10 years old! You only need to bring a lunch prepared for you kids in case they get hungry.
