Luciana Wallenstein, MA,  LPC, LMFT

marriage therapist, individual counselor

My hope: you are reading my biography because you know your relationships can improve – with both yourself and your loved ones.

If you are like me, you are searching for a guide to help you illuminate the darkness. In my journey, I learned that finding the right therapeutic match is crucial. The right therapist is the person that combines the experience, the skills, and the instant connection to facilitate your journey of self-discovery - and change - at your own pace. I would like to be that person for you. So let me tell you a little bit about myself:

Born in Brazil, I have dual nationality and am fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. I have lived on three continents and have studied the philosophy of psychology in four cultures and countries (Brazil, Dubai, Mexico, and the United States).

After graduating from a master's program at the University of Houston – Clear Lake, I worked with youth, individuals, couples, and families on various challenges such as anxiety, depression, parenting, divorce, relationship, sexual abuse, and others. I am licensed in both professional counseling and marriage/family therapy. In my (limited!) spare time, I love to cook, practice yoga, and walk on the beach.

And now, back to you:  psychology is a rich field filled with differing perspectives and techniques. I am trained in evidence-based techniques (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR Therapy, The Gottman Method, and Emotion-Focused Therapy). However, I treat each client as unique and employ a curated mix of traditional and innovative techniques to help lead us to ideal outcomes. Together we will develop an individualized plan with the tools you need to achieve your therapeutic goals.

Jodi Sheffield, MA,  LPC

marriage therapist, individual counselor

Hi! My name is Jodi Sheffield, LPC. I have had the privilege of working with families, teens, and adults on their journey of self-exploration and healing in community mental health, hospital and private practice settings. I have worked with clients with mood, personality, psychotic  disorders and substance abuse as well as clients who are experiencing trauma and significant life transitions/stressors.

My primary goal in therapy is to create a safe place for clients to explore, grow, learn and heal at their own pace. I utilize the empirically validated treatment modalities of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients learn how their thoughts, behaviors and feelings are connected to increase self-awareness. As self-awareness grows and develops, clients can begin the hard work of healing by reframing and combating unhealthy thoughts, behaviors and painful emotions in order to create a life worth living, a life full of meaning, value, and dignity.

I earned a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary, a CACREP accredited counseling program. My seminary education gave me the opportunity to explore the relationship between psychological science and spirituality, and the value of science and empirical research alongside faith and religious practices. I believe in the healing power of relationships. One healthy relationship can lead to healing in a client’s relationship with self and with others.

In addition, I am a Certified Grief Informed Professional (CGP) with training to help people through their grief process after loosing a loved one or experiencing loss in a relationship.

When I’m not in the office, you can find me playing sand volleyball, reading a good book or trying new restaurants for self-care. I look forwarding to learning your story and how to create meaning and to grow in the midst of pain, trials and transitions!”
